Ingredients
-
¼ cup cold water
-
2 tablespoons cornstarch
-
⅓ cup reduced sodium soy sauce
-
2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
Optional Add-ins
-
2–3 teaspoons brown sugar
-
½ teaspoon granulated garlic
-
½ teaspoon ground ginger
-
Pinch of crushed red pepper flakes
Instructions
-
In a small bowl or jar, whisk together the cold water and cornstarch until fully dissolved.
-
Add soy sauce and sesame oil. Stir to combine.
-
If desired, mix in brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes for added flavor.
-
Use immediately by pouring over stir-fried vegetables, meat, or tofu in the last 1–2 minutes of cooking. Stir until thickened.
- If not using right away, store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Shake well before using.
Notes
-
This sauce thickens quickly once heated—add it at the end of cooking.
-
Make a double batch and keep it ready for easy stir-fries all week.
-
For gluten-free, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
- Great with chicken, beef, shrimp, tofu, and all vegetables.
