Description

Baked Shrimp Toast is a delicious appetizer featuring tender, seasoned shrimp mixed with creamy cheeses and aromatic vegetables, all spread onto crisp French baguette slices and baked until golden. This elegant yet easy-to-make dish is perfect for parties, gatherings, or a tasty snack that impresses.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 small French baguette, cut into ½-inch thick slices

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled, deveined, and minced

  • ½ small onion, finely chopped

  • 1 stalk celery, finely chopped

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • ¼ to ½ teaspoon Cajun seasoning

  • ¼ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper

  • 4 ounces cream cheese, cut into small cubes

  • ¼ cup shaved Parmesan cheese

  • ¼ cup shaved Fontina cheese

  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush both sides lightly with olive oil. Toast in oven for about 5–7 minutes until slightly golden. Remove and set aside.

  • In a mixing bowl, combine minced shrimp, chopped onion, celery, garlic, Cajun seasoning, black pepper, and salt to taste. Mix well.

  • Add cream cheese cubes and gently fold to combine, creating a creamy shrimp mixture.

  • Spread the shrimp mixture evenly over the toasted baguette slices.

  • Sprinkle shaved Parmesan and Fontina cheeses on top.

  • Bake for 12–15 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly and shrimp mixture is cooked through.

  • Remove from oven and sprinkle with crushed red pepper flakes and sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

  • Adjust Cajun seasoning according to your preferred spice level.

  • For extra crispiness, broil the toast for the last 1–2 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.

  • Substitute Fontina with mozzarella or Gruyère if needed.
