Description

A tender, juicy flank steak grilled to perfection and topped with fresh Caprese ingredients—cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil—drizzled with a sweet balsamic glaze. This dish is a flavorful, elegant, and simple way to elevate any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini), halved
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze (for drizzling)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Steak Marinade:
    • In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Rub the mixture all over the flank steak, ensuring it’s evenly coated. Let the steak marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.
  • Grill the Steak:
    • Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Grill the flank steak for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer depending on your preferred level of doneness. Once cooked, let the steak rest for about 5-10 minutes before slicing.
  • Assemble the Caprese Topping:
    • While the steak is resting, combine the halved cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella balls, and chopped basil in a bowl. Toss gently to combine.
  • Serve:
    • Slice the grilled flank steak against the grain into thin strips. Top with the Caprese mixture and drizzle with balsamic glaze just before serving.

Notes

  • For a different flavor, you can marinate the steak with a little balsamic vinegar or red wine in addition to the olive oil and Dijon mustard.
  • This dish pairs wonderfully with a side of roasted vegetables or a simple salad.
