Ingredients
For the Bread Pudding:
-
16-ounce loaf Challah bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
-
4 cups milk
-
5 eggs
-
1 teaspoon cinnamon
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-
1/2 cup sugar
For the Sauce:
-
1/2 cup butter
-
1 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed
-
1 teaspoon cinnamon
-
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
-
1/8 teaspoon cloves
-
1/2 teaspoon rum extract
-
1/2 cup heavy cream
-
3 bananas, sliced
Instructions
-
Prepare the Bread Pudding:
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
Place the cubed Challah bread into a large greased baking dish (9×13 inch or similar).
-
In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and sugar until well combined.
-
Pour the egg mixture over the cubed bread, making sure the bread is well soaked. Let it sit for about 10 minutes, allowing the bread to absorb the mixture.
-
-
Bake the Bread Pudding:
-
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the bread pudding is golden brown on top and set in the center.
-
-
Make the Bananas Foster Sauce:
-
While the bread pudding is baking, prepare the sauce. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
-
Add the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and rum extract. Stir until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
-
Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for 3-5 minutes, until slightly thickened.
-
Stir in the heavy cream and sliced bananas, and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the bananas are tender and the sauce is creamy.
-
-
Serve:
-
Once the bread pudding is done, remove it from the oven and allow it to cool slightly. Serve warm with the Bananas Foster sauce poured on top. Enjoy!

Notes
-
You can substitute the rum extract with a small amount of actual rum for a more authentic flavor (if desired).
- For an extra indulgent touch, top with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
