Description

These Barbecue Chicken Sliders are a perfect combination of tender, flavorful chicken, melted provolone cheese, and tangy barbecue sauce, all nestled inside soft Hawaiian rolls. Ideal for a crowd-pleasing appetizer or a quick dinner, these sliders are full of comfort and flavor!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ pounds chicken, shredded and seasoned with salt and pepper
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • ¼ cup salted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 12 Hawaiian rolls, sliced
  • 12 slices provolone cheese
  • ½ cup red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon dried minced onion
  • 1 tablespoon parsley

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a medium-sized bowl, mix the shredded chicken with barbecue sauce. Stir until the chicken is well coated.
  • In another bowl, combine the melted butter, parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and dried minced onion.
  • Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, leaving the rolls attached in one piece (like a sandwich loaf).
  • Place the bottom half of the rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Spread the barbecue chicken mixture evenly over the bottom half of the rolls.
  • Top the chicken with provolone cheese slices, then place the top half of the rolls on top.
  • Brush the melted butter mixture evenly over the top of the rolls and sprinkle with parsley.
  • Add thinly sliced red onion over the top, if desired.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 15-20 minutes until the cheese has melted and the sliders are heated through.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes for a golden, crispy top.
  • Slice into individual sliders and serve.

Notes

  • You can use any type of cheese you prefer, such as cheddar or mozzarella, instead of provolone.
  • These sliders can be assembled ahead of time and baked just before serving.
  • If you prefer a spicier kick, try adding a little hot sauce or jalapeños to the chicken mixture.
