Description
These are the ultimate Rice Krispie Treats—extra gooey, buttery, and packed with marshmallow flavor in every bite. With a touch of vanilla and a pinch of salt to balance the sweetness, this classic treat is elevated to perfection and incredibly easy to make.
Ingredients
-
3/4 cup (170 g) unsalted butter
-
8 1/2 cups (450 g) mini marshmallows, divided (7 1/2 cups for melting, 1 cup reserved for stirring in at the end)
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
1/2 tsp salt
-
7 1/2 cups (200 g) rice cereal (Rice Krispies, rice bubbles, or similar)
Instructions
-
In a large pot, melt the butter over medium-low heat.
-
Add 7 1/2 cups of mini marshmallows and stir until completely melted and smooth.
-
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and salt.
-
Fold in the rice cereal and mix gently until evenly coated.
-
Add the remaining 1 cup of marshmallows and stir just until incorporated—they should remain partially melted for extra gooey texture.
-
Transfer mixture to a greased or parchment-lined 9×13-inch pan. Press down gently with a greased spatula or clean hands—do not compact too firmly.
- Let cool at room temperature for about 1 hour before slicing into squares.
Notes
-
For thicker treats, use a smaller 9×9-inch pan.
-
Do not overheat the marshmallows; low and slow melting gives the best texture.
-
Add-ins like chocolate chips or sprinkles can be mixed in once the cereal is coated.
- For best results, use fresh marshmallows.
