  • Bell peppers, carrots, onions, and cabbage (or your preferred vegetables)
  • Garlic, minced
  • Ginger, minced
  • Cooking oil (vegetable or sesame oil)
  • Green onions, chopped (for garnish)

The Best Chow Mein Sauce Ingredients:

  • Soy sauce
  • Oyster sauce
  • Sesame oil
  • Rice vinegar
  • Brown sugar
  • Cornstarch
  • Water

Instructions

  • Prepare the Ingredients:
Cut chicken into thin strips, chop vegetables, and cook noodles according to package instructions. Drain the noodles and set aside.

  • Make the Chow Mein Sauce:
In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, brown sugar, cornstarch, and water. Whisk until the cornstarch dissolves, then set aside.

  • Cook the Chicken:
Heat a wok or large frying pan over medium-high heat and add oil. Add the chicken and stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.

  • Stir-fry the Vegetables:
Add more oil to the pan if needed. Add the garlic, ginger, and vegetables to the pan and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, until the vegetables are tender-crisp.

  • Combine Everything:
Return the chicken to the pan with the vegetables. Pour the Chow Mein sauce over the chicken and vegetables. Add the cooked noodles and toss everything to coat the noodles evenly in the sauce.

  • Serve:
Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot.
