Description

Churro French Toast combines the rich, fluffy texture of thick French toast with the sweet, cinnamon-sugar coating of churros. It’s the ultimate indulgence for breakfast or brunch—crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside, and topped with a delicious cinnamon-sugar dusting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 thick slices of day-old brioche or challah bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (for coating)
  • Butter (for frying)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Egg Mixture: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until smooth and well combined.
  • Coat the Bread: Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, making sure both sides are fully coated. Let the excess egg mixture drip off before placing it on a plate.
  • Fry the French Toast: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a little butter to coat the surface. Fry the soaked bread slices for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Cinnamon-Sugar Coating: In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar with the 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon. Once the French toast is cooked, immediately dip each slice into the cinnamon-sugar mixture, coating both sides generously.
  • Serve: Serve warm with syrup, whipped cream, or fresh fruit if desired.

Notes

  • If you prefer a dairy-free version, substitute whole milk with almond or oat milk.
  • You can add a sprinkle of powdered sugar or drizzle of chocolate sauce for extra sweetness.
