Description

These Cinnamon Sugar Soft Pretzels are warm, fluffy, and buttery, coated in a sweet cinnamon-sugar blend. Perfect as a snack, dessert, or cozy treat, they’re soft on the inside with a golden, chewy crust. Simple to make and irresistibly delicious!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Pretzels:

  • 2 cups warm milk

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons active dry yeast

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted

  • 2 teaspoons salt

  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (more or less as needed)

For the Topping:

  • 1/3 cup baking soda

  • 3 cups warm water (for the baking soda bath)

  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted (for brushing)

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.

  • Stir in the brown sugar, melted butter, and salt.

  • Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  • Cover the dough and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  • Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  • In a shallow bowl, mix warm water and baking soda for the pretzel bath.

  • Divide dough into 12 equal portions. Roll each into a rope and shape into pretzels.

  • Dip each pretzel into the baking soda bath for a few seconds, then place on the prepared baking sheet.

  • Bake for 8–10 minutes or until golden brown.

  • Brush each hot pretzel with melted butter, then toss or sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.

  • Serve warm.

Notes

  • If the dough is too sticky, add more flour a little at a time.

  • Best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container for 1–2 days and reheated

  • You can freeze unbaked pretzels after shaping and bake from frozen (add a few extra minutes to the bake time).
