Ingredients
Scale
For the Brussels Sprouts:
- 1 lb Brussels sprouts, trimmed & halved
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
For the Glaze:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp brown sugar (or honey)
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
For Topping:
- 4 slices bacon, cooked & crumbled (optional)
- 1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Prepare the Brussels sprouts: Place the trimmed and halved Brussels sprouts on a baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Toss to coat evenly.
- Roast the Brussels sprouts: Roast in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy on the edges, tossing halfway through for even cooking.
- Make the glaze: While the Brussels sprouts are roasting, prepare the glaze. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add brown sugar, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir to combine and cook for 3-4 minutes until the glaze thickens slightly.
- Toss the Brussels sprouts: Once the Brussels sprouts are roasted, remove them from the oven and place them in a bowl. Pour the glaze over the Brussels sprouts and toss to coat evenly.
- Top and serve: Transfer the glazed Brussels sprouts to a serving dish. If desired, top with crumbled bacon and grated Parmesan cheese. Serve immediately!
Notes
- For a lighter version, omit the bacon and Parmesan cheese.
- You can add a touch more balsamic vinegar or soy sauce for extra flavor.
- If you prefer a sweeter glaze, increase the brown sugar or honey to taste.
- For an extra crispy texture, you can broil the Brussels sprouts for 1-2 minutes at the end of roasting.
