Description

This Creamy Garlic Shrimp Pasta combines tender linguine with succulent shrimp sautéed in garlic butter and a rich, velvety cream sauce. Flavored with Old Bay seasoning and parmesan cheese, this dish is a perfect balance of indulgence and fresh seafood goodness. Ideal for a quick weeknight dinner or a special occasion meal that feels luxurious but is simple to make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces (225 grams) linguine pasta

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 ½ tablespoons butter, divided

  • 1 pound (450 grams) raw shrimp, peeled and deveined (frozen is fine)

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning (optional; can substitute smoked paprika or Cajun seasoning)

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

  • ½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream (double cream in the UK)

  • ½ cup (40 grams) parmesan cheese, grated

  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  • Cook linguine according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter over medium-high heat.

  • Add shrimp, salt, pepper, and Old Bay seasoning (if using). Cook shrimp until pink and opaque, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove shrimp from skillet and set aside.

  • In the same skillet, add remaining ½ tablespoon butter and minced garlic. Sauté garlic until fragrant, about 30 seconds.

  • Pour in heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.

  • Stir in parmesan cheese until melted and sauce is smooth.

  • Return shrimp to skillet, then add cooked linguine. Toss everything together until pasta is evenly coated in the creamy sauce.

  • Sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Use fresh parsley for the best flavor, but dried can be substituted if necessary.

  • For extra spice, add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes with the garlic.

  • To lighten the dish, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream, but sauce will be less rich.
