Description

This simple yet luxurious chocolate ganache is the perfect topping or filling for cakes, cupcakes, tarts, and more. With just two ingredients, it’s incredibly easy to make and creates a smooth, rich chocolate coating that’s sure to impress.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  • Place the chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl.

  • In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer (do not let it come to a full boil).

  • Pour the hot cream over the chocolate chips. Let it sit for about 1-2 minutes to melt the chocolate.

  • After the chocolate has softened, stir the mixture gently until it becomes smooth and glossy.

  • Allow the ganache to cool for a few minutes before using. You can use it as a pourable topping, or let it sit longer to thicken and use as a frosting or filling.

  • For a thicker ganache, let it cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for 30 minutes and whip before using.

Notes

  • To make the ganache a bit shinier, you can add a tablespoon of butter to the mixture after the chocolate has melted.

  • For a lighter ganache, you can use half-and-half instead of heavy cream, but the consistency will be thinner.

  • If you want to flavor your ganache, add a splash of vanilla extract, espresso powder, or liquor such as rum or Baileys Irish Cream while mixing.
