Description

A quick and flavorful garlic fried rice recipe that brings together savory soy sauce, rich oyster sauce, and a touch of garlic in every bite. Perfect as a side dish or a simple meal on its own. Customizable with more garlic or spices to suit your taste!


Ingredients

  • 1 to 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 6 large cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups cooked and cooled white rice
  • 1 scallion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon oyster sauce
  • ¼ to ½ teaspoon salt
  • to ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a medium sauté pan over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped garlic and ⅛ teaspoon of salt, cooking for 1-2 minutes, until the garlic turns golden brown. Remove the garlic from the pan, leaving the garlic-infused oil in the pan.
  • Add the egg to the pan and scramble until partially cooked.
  • Add the cooked and cooled rice, chopped scallion, soy sauce, oyster sauce, black pepper, and remaining salt to the pan. Turn the heat to high and stir everything together to combine.
  • Stir in the reserved fried garlic and mix well. Taste and adjust with more salt, pepper, or soy sauce if needed.
  • Garnish with additional chopped scallions and serve!

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, you can skip the oyster sauce or substitute with a vegetarian oyster sauce.
  • Make sure the rice is cooled before frying for the best texture, as fresh rice may become mushy.
