Description
These delightful Strawberry Puff Pastry Hearts are a perfect balance of flaky, buttery pastry, sweetened whipped cream, and fresh, juicy strawberries. Topped with a drizzle of chocolate sauce and a light dusting of powdered sugar, these treats are ideal for a romantic occasion or just because.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed and ready to use)
- 1 egg (beaten for an egg wash)
- 1 cup heavy cream (whipped with 2 tbsp powdered sugar for filling)
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar (for sweetening the whipped cream)
- 1 cup fresh strawberries (thinly sliced)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
- Chocolate sauce (for drizzling on top)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Using a heart-shaped cookie cutter or a sharp knife, cut the pastry into heart shapes.
- Place the heart-shaped pastry pieces onto the prepared baking sheet. Brush each one with a beaten egg to give them a golden, shiny finish when baked.
- Bake the puff pastry hearts in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool.
- While the pastry is cooling, whip the heavy cream with 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
- Once the puff pastry hearts have cooled, pipe or spoon the whipped cream onto the center of each heart.
- Top the cream with thinly sliced fresh strawberries, arranging them neatly.
- Drizzle chocolate sauce over the strawberries and dust the pastries with powdered sugar for an extra touch of sweetness.
- Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to an hour before serving.
Notes
- You can use store-bought whipped cream if you’re short on time, but homemade will give the best texture and flavor.
- Feel free to substitute the chocolate sauce with a drizzle of raspberry sauce for a different flavor twist.
