Description

These Ham and Cheese Puff Pastry Pinwheels are the perfect bite-sized treat for any occasion. Flaky, buttery puff pastry wrapped around savory ham, melted cheese, and a hint of mustard, all baked to golden perfection. Ideal for parties, appetizers, or an easy snack!

Ingredients

  • Puff Pastry: 1 sheet (about 250g), thawed

  • Ham: 150g (6 slices), thinly sliced

  • Cheese: 1 cup (100g), shredded (cheddar, mozzarella, or your choice)

  • Mustard (optional): 1 tablespoon

  • Egg: 1, beaten (for egg wash)

  • Dried Herbs (optional): ½ teaspoon (oregano or thyme)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.

  • Spread a thin layer of mustard over the entire pastry sheet (if using).

  • Lay the ham slices evenly over the pastry.

  • Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the ham.

  • Optionally, sprinkle dried herbs like oregano or thyme over the cheese for extra flavor.

  • Roll the puff pastry sheet tightly from one end to the other, creating a log.

  • Slice the rolled pastry into 1-inch wide pinwheels and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

  • Brush the top of each pinwheel with the beaten egg to create a golden finish.

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the pinwheels are golden brown and puffed.

  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Feel free to swap the ham and cheese for other fillings, like turkey or spinach, for a different flavor.

  • These pinwheels can be made ahead and stored in the fridge or freezer. Simply reheat them in the oven before serving.
