Description

A light, luscious layered dessert combining airy angel food cake, creamy vanilla pudding, tangy sour cream, and sweet cherry pie filling, topped with fluffy whipped topping and fresh berries. Perfect for an easy yet elegant treat.


Ingredients

  • 14 oz prepared angel food cake (store-bought or homemade), cut into cubes

  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling

  • 1 box (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix

  • 1½ cups whole milk (or half & half for richer texture)

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 8 oz Cool Whip, thawed

  • ¼ cup sliced berries (optional, for garnish)


Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together instant vanilla pudding mix and milk until thickened (about 2 minutes).

  • Stir in sour cream until smooth and fully combined.

  • Gently fold in half of the Cool Whip into the pudding mixture.

  • In a large trifle bowl or glass dish, layer half of the angel food cake cubes evenly on the bottom.

  • Spoon half of the cherry pie filling over the cake layer.

  • Spread half of the pudding mixture on top of the cherry layer.

  • Repeat layering with remaining cake cubes, cherry pie filling, and pudding mixture.

  • Top with remaining Cool Whip.

  • Garnish with sliced berries if desired.

  • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld and dessert to set.

Notes

  • For a richer dessert, use half & half instead of milk.

  • Can be prepared a day ahead for best flavor.

  • Substitute cherry pie filling with other fruit pie fillings if preferred.
