Description

A deliciously indulgent twist on a classic grilled cheese, this Lazy Chicken Parmesan Grilled Cheese combines crispy breaded chicken patties with garlic butter, marinara sauce, provolone cheese, and Parmesan. It’s the perfect combination of flavors for a quick and satisfying meal!

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 2 frozen breaded chicken patties (such as Tyson®)

  • 2 tablespoons garlic butter (or to taste)

  • 4 slices Italian bread

  • 1 cup marinara sauce

  • ½ teaspoon dried basil (or to taste)

  • 1 pinch garlic salt (or to taste)

  • 6 thin slices provolone cheese

  • 2 tablespoons shredded Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Cook the Chicken Patties: Prepare the frozen breaded chicken patties according to package instructions, typically by baking or frying them for about 20 minutes at 400°F or until crispy and fully cooked.

  • Prepare the Bread: While the chicken is cooking, spread a thin layer of garlic butter on one side of each slice of Italian bread.

  • Assemble the Grilled Cheese: Once the chicken patties are cooked, assemble the grilled cheese by placing a chicken patty on the non-buttered side of two slices of bread. Top with 3 slices of provolone cheese per sandwich.

  • Grill the Sandwiches: Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the assembled sandwiches in the skillet, buttered-side down, and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden and crispy, and the cheese is melted.

  • Add Marinara Sauce: While the grilled cheese is cooking, heat the marinara sauce in a small pan and season it with basil and garlic salt.

  • Serve: Once the grilled cheese is ready, remove it from the skillet and drizzle the marinara sauce over the top of the sandwich. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a few fresh basil leaves to the marinara sauce or sprinkle some on top of the sandwich.

  • You can use any type of bread, but Italian bread or a crusty bread works best for this recipe.

  • Serve with extra marinara sauce for dipping.
