Ingredients
Scale
For the Brownies:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon red food coloring
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
For the Cheesecake Swirl:
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg yolk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Prepare the brownie batter: In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, and whisk until fully incorporated. Stir in the red food coloring, cocoa powder, flour, and salt, mixing until combined.
- Prepare the cheesecake swirl: In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with the sugar until smooth and creamy. Add the egg yolk and vanilla extract, and continue to beat until the mixture is well combined and smooth.
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Drop spoonfuls of the cheesecake mixture on top of the brownie batter. Use a knife or toothpick to swirl the cheesecake mixture into the brownie batter, creating a marbled effect.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean (a few crumbs are okay, but no wet batter). Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
Notes
- If you prefer a stronger red color, feel free to add more food coloring.
- For a thicker cheesecake swirl, you can double the cheesecake ingredients.
