For the Donuts:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/3 cups buttermilk
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup strawberries, diced
For the Strawberry Frosting:
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 4 tablespoons strawberries, finely chopped
- 3 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Make the Donuts:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Gently fold in the diced strawberries.
- Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each mold about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into a donut comes out clean.
- Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Make the Strawberry Frosting:
- In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar, finely chopped strawberries, and milk together until smooth and thick enough to coat the donuts.
- If the frosting is too thick, add a little more milk, one teaspoon at a time.
- Assemble the Donuts:
- Once the donuts have cooled completely, dip the tops of the donuts into the strawberry frosting.
- Allow any excess frosting to drip off before placing the donuts back on the wire rack.
- Serve and enjoy these sweet strawberry frosted donuts!
Notes
- For added texture, you can sprinkle the donuts with additional chopped strawberries or colorful sprinkles after frosting.
- If you don’t have a donut pan, you can bake the batter in a muffin tin for donut-like muffins.
