Ingredients

Scale

For the Donuts:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/3 cups buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup strawberries, diced

For the Strawberry Frosting:

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 tablespoons strawberries, finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  • Make the Donuts:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
    • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
    • Gently fold in the diced strawberries.
    • Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each mold about 2/3 full.
    • Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into a donut comes out clean.
    • Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Make the Strawberry Frosting:
    • In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar, finely chopped strawberries, and milk together until smooth and thick enough to coat the donuts.
    • If the frosting is too thick, add a little more milk, one teaspoon at a time.
  • Assemble the Donuts:
    • Once the donuts have cooled completely, dip the tops of the donuts into the strawberry frosting.
    • Allow any excess frosting to drip off before placing the donuts back on the wire rack.
  • Serve and enjoy these sweet strawberry frosted donuts!

Notes

  • For added texture, you can sprinkle the donuts with additional chopped strawberries or colorful sprinkles after frosting.
  • If you don’t have a donut pan, you can bake the batter in a muffin tin for donut-like muffins.
