Ingredients
For the Filling:
-
2 tablespoons (28g) unsalted butter
-
2 cups diced Granny Smith apples (about 2 medium apples or 200g)
-
2 tablespoons (25g) granulated sugar
-
1 teaspoon cinnamon
For the Rolls:
-
1 can crescent rolls (8 rolls)
For the Frosting:
-
2 tablespoons (28g) unsalted butter
-
1/4 cup (50g) packed brown sugar
-
2–3 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
-
1/2 cup (57g) powdered sugar
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sauté diced apples with sugar and cinnamon until tender and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
-
Unroll crescent roll dough onto a flat surface and separate into 8 triangles.
-
Spoon the apple filling evenly onto each triangle, then roll up starting from the wide end to form rolls.
-
Place rolls in a greased baking dish or on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
-
While rolls bake, prepare the frosting: In a small saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat. Stir in heavy cream and bring to a simmer, cooking for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth.
- Drizzle warm frosting over the baked rolls. Serve warm.
Notes
-
Granny Smith apples provide a tart contrast but other firm apples can be used.
-
Adjust frosting thickness by adding more or less heavy cream.
- For extra texture, sprinkle chopped nuts over rolls before baking.
