Ingredients
-
2 sticks unsalted butter, at room temperature
-
1 cup granulated sugar
-
1 cup golden brown sugar, firmly packed
-
3 large eggs
-
1½ teaspoons pure vanilla extract
-
3 cups all-purpose flour
-
¾ teaspoon baking soda
-
¾ teaspoon salt
-
1½ cups M&M’s (plus more for topping)
-
1 cup mini chocolate chips (plus more for topping)
Instructions
-
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
-
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
-
Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
-
Gently fold in the M&M’s and mini chocolate chips.
-
Spread the cookie dough evenly into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle additional M&M’s and mini chocolate chips on top for extra color and sweetness.
-
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the bars are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
-
Allow the bars to cool in the pan before cutting them into squares.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
-
These cookie bars are best when served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
-
You can mix and match the types of M&M’s used for different flavor combinations. Try adding peanut butter M&M’s for an extra twist!
- For extra chewy bars, underbake slightly and let them set for a few minutes in the pan.
